Salads, garnishes and sandwich lines where colour is wanted raw
The pink flesh and mild sweetness make this bulb the choice for raw use on salads, sandwiches and garnish lines.
FRESH · SIZE-GRADED · MESH BAGS
Fresh pink onion from Gujarat is a light red: pale rose skin over near-white flesh, with red-onion character at roughly half the pungency and the most pronounced sweetness of the three varieties. It suits markets that want a coloured onion without the bite, and raw applications where colour is wanted and pungency is not.
KlarHarvest ships it cured, size-graded to your band and packed in mesh or jute bags, in ventilated or reefer containers from Pipavav - FCL, in scheduled runs whose window is confirmed at inquiry.
The range
Same onion, same line, same lot documentation - a different bulb size.
Grade bands are screened to order; about 5 % of bulbs fall outside the stated band.
The product
What the product is, why the grade band matters, and what it means for the price per kilo.
Fresh pink onion is a light-red Allium cepa grown in Gujarat as a rabi crop: pale rose to light-red papery skin, near-white flesh with a faint pink edge to the rings, and a flavour that sits between white and red - about half the pungency of a red onion with a clear sweetness. Production is smaller than white or red and runs on a schedule rather than continuously.
Buyers choose fresh pink onion for salads, garnishes and sandwich lines where colour is wanted raw, for dressings and relishes that use the sweetness, and for Gulf and Southeast Asian wholesale and retail programmes that want a visibly different onion. It is sold by diameter in bands from 25-40 mm to 60-80 mm, one band per lot, and ships FCL only.
Overview
KlarHarvest fresh pink onion comes from growers in Gujarat, field-cured after the rabi harvest and shipped in scheduled runs that follow the crop. Bulbs are topped, cleaned, screened to your grade band and packed in 5-25 kg mesh bags, plain or with your label, and every bag is counted and weighed before the container is sealed. Reefer transport is recommended more often than for red, because the thinner skin cures less hard.
Pink onion is a scheduled product, and we sell it that way: the offer names the run it comes from, the band that run screens to and the months it can ship, with photographs of the crop. Reefer is recommended more often than for red because the thinner skin cures less hard. FOB, CFR or CIF, grade, packing and freight in one quotation, inside one business day - and dried in the same five cuts on request, with minimum quantities.

Growing and packing
Eight steps from the field to a strapped pallet in a ventilated container. Where a defect can enter the product, the step says so.
Pink onion is a rabi crop of Gujarat sown in November-December and lifted February to April, on a smaller acreage than white or red and on runs agreed with the growers in advance.
Windrowed under their own tops until necks tighten. The pink skin is thinner than red and sets less hard, which is why the curing is watched more closely and reefer transport is advised more often.
Cured bulbs held in ventilated sheds for the run's shipping window - weeks rather than the months a white rabi crop can wait.
Tops and roots trimmed, loose skin and soil brushed off, leaving the rose outer skin intact.
A screening deck sorts bulbs into 25-40, 40-60, 50-70 and 60-80 mm; sprouted, split, double and damaged bulbs are picked off by hand.
Mesh bags filled to net weight, sewn or clipped and labelled with grade, lot and your mark.
Palletised and strapped or stowed loose, counted, weighed and filmed into a reefer or ventilated container at our premises.
Phytosanitary inspection, export documents, customs seal and the seal number in your order record before the truck leaves for Pipavav.

Grade bands, packing and the seasonal window are confirmed in every quotation; a narrower band is quoted against the crop in hand.
Grade bands
Bulb diameter as a screened band and the tolerances that go with it - what a fresh onion grade actually promises.
Fresh pink onion is screened into diameter bands like red, but the crop is smaller and runs are scheduled, so a narrow band in a large quantity may not exist in a given season. About 5 % of bulbs outside the band is the normal allowance; we say what is screenable before it goes into a contract.

Applications
The uses this variety is specified for most often. Tell us yours and we will say whether it is the right one.
The pink flesh and mild sweetness make this bulb the choice for raw use on salads, sandwiches and garnish lines.
Milder than red and sweeter than white, pink onion goes into fresh relishes, salsas and dressings without a harsh bite.
Wholesale markets that know the pink onion from the Indian trade take it in mesh bags on the same two-week sailing.
A pink-skinned onion stands out in a net or on a display beside the white and red staples.
Sliced and diced packs use the pink bulb for a softer colour than red in a mixed salad pack.
Sliced and quick-pickled, pink onion keeps a light rose colour and its sweetness in the jar.
Packaging & export
Fresh pink onion is the most delicate of the three varieties in transit - thinner skin, softer cure - so temperature and sailing length come first in the packing instruction. This is how a run ships.

Why KlarHarvest
Six things you can check before the first order, not after.
What the run screens to and how much of it exists - said before the contract, because a narrow band in a large quantity may not be there in a given season.
Grade, price, freight, transport recommendation and the run window in one document.
Short validity, and a contract that states what happens if an Indian export measure lands between confirmation and loading.
Bags counted into the container on video, the seal number, the box followed to your port.
Pink onion dried on request in the same five cuts as red, from the same exporter.
Crop photographs, loading video, status and documents behind one link.
Documentation
Production runs are scheduled rather than continuous, so a narrow grade band in a large quantity may simply not exist in a given season. Tell us the volume and the months you need and we book against a run - and we will tell you what is actually screenable before it goes into a contract. Pink onion is also available dehydrated in all five cut sizes, on request, with minimum quantities. Dehydrated red onions
FAQ
What buyers ask about this variety before the first order. Anything not covered here, send us the question - you have an answer within one business day.
Lighter skin, near-white flesh and about half the pungency, with more sweetness. It is chosen for colour without bite - raw applications above all.
It follows the Gujarat rabi window, harvested February to April, in scheduled runs that are narrower than white or red. Tell us the months you need and we book against a run.
Sometimes not: the crop is smaller, and a narrow band screened out of it leaves too much behind. We say what is screenable before it goes into a contract.
No. A living cargo needs its own ventilation setting, so fresh onion ships FCL only - about 12-14 t in a 20 ft container.
Reefer at 0-2 °C with fresh-air exchange is recommended on most sailings, because the thinner pink skin cures less hard than red. Ventilated containers on the two-week sailings to the Gulf are workable in the cool months.
Yes, on request, in all five cuts from flakes to powder, with minimum quantities - dried at the same BRC-certified plants as the red range.
Yes. Printed mesh bags or tags with your mark; artwork agreed at order confirmation.
